Hollins, Alcorn: Tax hikes and a trash fee will likely be needed to stave off a fiscal crisis

City Controller Chris Hollins and City Council Member Sallie Alcorn, who chairs the Budget and Fiscal Affairs Committee, said trying to fix Houston’s budget with cuts alone would require steep layoffs and crippling cuts to city services. Any decision would have to come through Houston's City Council -- the controller doesn't have policy making authority.

Houston Museum of Natural Science partners with Buc-ee’s to send hundreds of solar eclipse kits to Texas school districts

The iconic roadside mega gas station funded an initiative to send solar eclipse educational tools like lesson plans, classroom activities, virtual programs and educator training materials to participating districts around Texas free of charge.
